Quotes

The hypothesis that the apostles were knaves is quite absurd. Follow it out to the end and imagine these twelve men meeting after Jesus's death and conspiring to say that he had risen from the dead. This means attacking all the powers that be. The human heart is singularly susceptible to fickleness, to change, to promises, to bribery. One of them had only to deny his story under these inducements, or still more because of possible imprisonment, torture and death, and they would all have been lost. - Pascal, Pensees.

The purpose of creation was to have humans fellowship with God and with one another, but this did not happen. God kept sending His prophets and gave commandments. The prophets also introduced laws, all to no avail. Then, God sent His only Son, Jesus, who summarized the purpose of creation in two laws or commandments. If humans love one another, there won't be killings, adultery, and so on (second law covers all of these things).

There is a theme in the Bible from Genesis to the Book of Revelation. It is about Jesus. God is after restoring everyone to himself. We are all his property - For ye are bought with a price: (1 Corinthians 6:20).
[John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:]

The folly of Interpreters has been, to foretell times and things by this Prophecy, as if God designed to make them Prophets. By this rashness they have not only exposed themselves, but brought the Prophecy also into contempt. The design of God was much otherwise. He gave this and the Prophecies of the Old Testament, not to gratify mens curiosities by enabling them to foreknow things, but that after they were fulfilled they might be interpreted by the event, and his own Providence, not the Interpreters, be then manifested thereby to the world. For the event of things predicted many ages before, will then be a convincing argument that the world is governed by providence. - Isaac Newton, Observations upon the Prophecies of Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
